Reflections and Aspirations

Hi, hello, welcome back. It’s me…again…the worst blogger ever. I know I hardly ever keep things up to date on here, but that’s because nothing super exciting ever happens. I mean, do you just want to read post after post on 10 hour work days and kitty cuddles? I don’t think so šŸ˜‰ I’ve decided that this is a great place to document my travels, as well as any exciting changes, but since the weather has been so cold and nasty, we haven’t been out and about in a few months. Hence, why you haven’t heard from me in awhile! While I would like to be more consistent about blogging, I just don’t have the time right now. But that’s not what this post is about! I’m here to talk about why 2018 was so great and what we are looking forward to in 2019.

2018 was a really exciting year for us. There were so many changes that we never saw coming, yet they all brought us to an incredible place where we are living our best lives. This year, Andy and I…

  • visited 7 countries
  • lived out of a car for 3 weeks while bumming it in hotels
  • moved to a new country with nothing but a car full of suitcases and a cat carrier
  • started a Polish business
  • began Polish classes (and realized that this language is awful to learn)
  • filmed an episode of House Hunters International

If you told me last year that we would end up living in Poland, I would have laughed and called you crazy. But…the funny thing is that we are so insanely happy here! Poland has been the best thing that has ever happened to us, and looking back on the events of this year, I can only see how it was totally meant to be. We live in an amazing apartment (with a killer location), we have great jobs, and we can travel wherever we want. We are truly blessed beyond measure, and I am so grateful to live the life I do. It’s my dream come true and I get to share it with the love of my life and my cute fluffy kitty!

I know I say it every year, but I think that 2019 is going to be the best year yet. I mean, it has some big shoes to fill, but there is a lot to look forward to! Already, we have a few trips in the works for late winter/early spring; both sets of parents are visiting in the summer; and we have big plans for our business and jobs. The biggest question is: can we visit more than 7 countries this year? I would love to try! So far we have 5 on our 2019 list, so it looks like I need to start doing a bit more research šŸ˜‰

I also plan on being more intentional with my time in 2019. This past year, I decided to not watch as much “TV” and read more books. Even though I didn’t set a number, I read almost 100 books and discovered a lot of great authors. I still want to continue that trend (because reading is life), but I would also like to do a daily devotional and dedicate some time to myself every morning. I can make a lot of excuses, but this is one thing that I don’t want to skip out on.

Along with that, I really want to practice putting others’ needs before my own; exercising my husband’s love language; pushing my internal motivation button; and deepening my faith. There are little steps that I can take each day to make this happen, and while I’m aware that this won’t be an overnight change, I feel confident that the more I practice, the easier it will become.

So, here’s to a new year, fresh beginnings, and renewed motivation. Let’s start it off right and see where life takes us!
